2024 Norval Winter Open House

***WEATHER UPDATE***

Due to the recent heavy rainfall, the property is quite wet, making skiing, tobogganing, and snowshoeing activities unlikely (we will make a decision on the day). Hiking and the bird feeder craft are still set to go and we are committed to making it a great event for everyone! Please dress appropriately with boots and jackets for the conditions and be prepared to play in the snow (or possibly mud).

Our primary concern is with parking. Since we require attendees to park on the grass, the likelihood of getting stuck in the muddy slush has increased with the wet ground. To ensure a smooth experience for everyone, we strongly encourage carpooling wherever possible to reduce the number of vehicles. Additionally, we recommend using vehicles with four-wheel drive if available.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in making this event enjoyable for everyone.

Please join us for our annual Norval Winter Open House on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Come and enjoy lots of fun winter activities for the whole family to enjoy! Take part in activities such as:

  • Cross-country skiing: (may not be available due to weather conditions) Bring your own or use ours. Instructors will teach beginners and lead a tour. More advanced skiers are welcome to follow one of our marked trails (trails aren’t track-set).

  • Tobogganing: (may not be available due to weather conditions) Zoom down our popular toboggan hill in the arboretum. Bring your own or use one of ours. Please bring your own helmet.

  • Hiking: Winter is a beautiful time to go for a guided walk around the property. Snowshoes are available for use.

  • Bird feeder craft: Make a pine cone suet bird feeder in our classroom and hang it up outside. The Norval staff will also help you encourage our feathered friends to come eat from your hand!

Bundle up for a day of outdoor adventure with friends and family. Stephen House will be open and serving food and refreshments. Dogs on a leash are welcome (but won’t have access to the indoor spaces).
